The lavender cultivation developed in Europe in the 19th century when the fashion of Queen Victoria was embraced. She loved lavender aroma and she used it to scent wardrobes and environments.
The lavender has a charm without limits thanks to its rural perfume, floral and herbaceous, which spreads into the air. This aroma is elegant and It became famous in perfumery.
Extraction
Lavender harvest is in the summer. The essential oil is extracted from lavender flowers by distillation in a steam stream. We need about 130 kg of lavender officinalis - our cultivation - to produce a liter of oil which has a sweet aromatic smell.
Medicinal property
The name ‘Lavender’ comes from the latin verb wash. Lavender is a plant rich in therapeutic properties which the ancient Romans knew.
It is a good antiseptic and relaxing, a good painkiller and invigorating.
The essential oil doesn’t stain fabric and It can have a physiotherapeutic and aromatherapeutic use: on the pillow as a sedative, in the bathtub for a relaxing bath, on insect bites and on burns to soothe pain. You can add it to creams to purify your skin, spread it on the wrists to reduce headache and to restore the mood.
Dried flowers to perfume your house and as a natural anti-moth remedy.
